San Marcos – The Sheriff’s Department has reported that the 51-year old man who was hit by a 2000 Toyota Tacoma truck died of his injuries after being rushed to Palomar Medical Center.
The pedestrian, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was on Grand Avenue near Taulbees Lane just before 5:30 a.m. before he got hit by the truck when he tried to cross at mid-block.
According to the authorities, the 46-year-old driver of the truck was going eastbound on Grand Avenue, when the male pedestrian appeared in front of him outside the crosswalk. He stopped after the accident.
The Sheriff's Department is still investigating the cause and circumstances of the crash but there has been no evidence that may lead to pressing criminal charges against the driver.
