DUI: 3 Hurt in Suspected DUI Crash in Walnut Creek
December 15, 2010
Walnut Creek – Three people suffered minor injuries early Wednesday after a suspected DUI accident on the southbound lanes of Interstate Highway 680, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to reports, 21-year-old Correen Grob was heading south in her 1998 Toyota Avalon along I-680 near Livorna Road when it rear-ended a 1990 Chevy Astro van driven by Tom Pham, 53, of San Jose.
A CHP officer said the force of impact was so strong that it caused the van to rollover and land back on its wheels. Pham and two passengers of the van sustained minor injuries and were brought to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
The accident, which happened at around 12:40 am, was initially logged by officials as a hit-and-run accident. However, the CHP said Grob stopped and got out of her vehicle after the crash. She and a male passenger were uninjured.
Grob showed signs of alcohol influence, and the police arrested her on suspicion of DUI.
