VEHICLE COLLISION: 2 Hurt in Highway 99 Crash in Chico
January 24, 2011
Chico – At least two people suffered minor injuries Monday morning after a rear-end collision along Highway 99 near the East Fifth Avenue overpass in Chico, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to reports, Terrence Dove Jr., a Caltrans employee, pulled over on the shoulder of 99 to spray weeds from his truck when an oncoming 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe struck it from behind, at around 11:47 am.
Authorities are not sure why Jesse Ferguson, 38, the driver of the Chevrolet, ran into the back of the Caltrans truck. Both drivers were taken to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. They were both wearing seatbelts.
A driver following Ferguson said his car was traveling at a high speed, and did not take action to prevent the collision with the rig.
