VEHICLE COLLISION: 2 Dead, 3 Others Injured in Car-SUV Collision in Placerviller

El Dorado County - At least two people died while three others were injured when a car and a sport utility vehicle collided near Placerville, said California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.

The car, which was carrying a couple, was moving eastbound on the freeway along Five Mile Road when it suddenly made a left-turn and crossed the westbound lanes of Highway 50 onto Five Mile Road.

Reports said the car was then broadsided by a westbound SUV that was carrying several children.

The couple died in the collision. One child was brought to a Placerville hospital while two others were airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
