PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: 2 Children Injured in Pedestrian Accident in front of Discovery Bay Elementary
June 25, 2010
Discovery Bay – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the cause of a pedestrian accident that injured two children in front of Discovery Bay Elementary School yesterday afternoon.
According to the CHP, a 13-year-old boy was riding a bike while her sister was walking on the sidewalk of Willow Lake Road just in front of the school when a vehicle running at 15-20 mph suddenly went up the sidewalk, sideswiped the boy’s bike and struck the girl.
The boy only sustained minor abrasions but her sister had to be moved by helicopter to UC Davis Medical Center.
The injuries of the girl were reported as non-life threatening and she was only taken to the hospital as a precaution.
It is still unclear what caused the 50-year-old woman who was driving the car to suddenly swerve to the right and hit the children.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
It is also not clear yet if any charges will be filed against the driver.
