CAR CRASH: 1 dead, 1 moderately injured after car crash; baby unhurt

Van Nuys - At least one person was injured and another one died when a car crash and struck a parked pickup truck , reports said.
A 39-year-old Christina Lynn Ruvalcaba suffered extreme internal injuries and died shortly after arrival at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
In a statement released by Officer Rhiannon Talley of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Bureau, the accident occurred when the 33-year-old driver of a 1995 Lexus ES300, Alfonso Garnica-Mozgueda, lost control and crashed into Ruvalcaba who was standing by the rear passenger door of her 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup truck which was parked on Erwin Street just west of Vesper Avenue.
Her 34-year-old sister Blanca Ruvalcaba was able to survive despite sustaining a broken ankle while she was attending to her 7-week-old daughter. She was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment, and the baby was said to be secured.
The driver is now under police custody after being charged with hit-and-run and murder.
